SCRUGGS was the guy who founded and started "the VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL WALL"***************************************************On one recon patrol near "The Fishnet" we got ambushed by a Squad of 6 Viet Cong in an open rice paddie, where we stood up and charged the Viet Cong ambush in a typical textbookclassic on line Infantry assault with M-16's on fully Automatic. The firefight ended in our favor. I was on three anphibious assaults off of a U.S Navy Landing Craft (LCM) (Landing Craft Marine) called "THE GREY GHOST)On one Company operation my Company went up into the deep dark jungles of Bien Hoa, where we found 50, 100 lbs. of raw rice in an NVA Rice CasheOn night we got a late night radio call asking us to make enemy contact in an area that wasnot to far from our ambush site so we rowed down a canal in a snpan bamboo boatwere we ended up in engagging the enemy in my second "On Line Assault" only ths on was at night. The towns and hamlets we worked or encamped near in our NDP's we operated our combat Operations and Patrols were: Bien Hoa, Bear Cat, "The Fishnet", Binh Chanh, My Yen, "The Pineapple" and the Cambodian Border areas.WE EXPIERIENCED ALOT OF MORTAR ATTACKS WITH COMMUNIST 82mmMOTRTARS.Charlie Company 4/12 199th LIB had a firefight right next to our ambush site about 6:00pm near My Yen.My Squad Leader SGT Richard Allen Thursby two weeks before he was killed stepped flat footed on a "Booby Trap Tripwire" and realizing what he did lowered a can of M-60 Machinegun Ammo off his shoulder and set it down on the tripwire to hold it down until he could get off the wire and jump to safety. He then had us tie a roll of twine on to the canvas strap on the ammo can got down behind the rice paddy dyke pulled the ammo can off thetripwire and blew the "booby trap" in place.We operated in III Corps Tacticle Zone in War Zone C & D towards the Cambodian Border in Gia Dinh Province and a geographical area called the "Pineapple."The Company Operations we went on included:1969 TET Counter Offensive Phase IOperation Strangler IOperation Strangler IIOperation Strangler IIIOperation LuluOperation Strangler IVTET Offensive Phase I and 1969 TET Counter Offensive Phase II

  This reinforced my previous conclusion and added the STUNNING NEW REVELATION that Harley Hall had been INTERROGATED BY THE SOVIETS (which,I hasten to point out, could not have happened had he "died"in the area where his teeth were allegedly lost and recovered twenty years later!) This is in startling contradiction to theU.S. Government's present bland acceptance of his "death" in the Quang Tri area shortly after being shot down6. REFUGEE STATEMENTS: I realize less credence is given to"hearsay" from Vietnamese, but it is no secret that about the time of my husband's downing and capture, there was frequent recounting of and bragging about "the parading of a big Blue Angel" in Vietnam, possibly through Hanoi. 

  Cases of misidentification and case closing on insufficient evidence are not new or unique to my husband's case, but all the above shows me is that the United States Government's "highest national priority" in this area is to shorten if not eliminate the missing list and close the book on as many discrepancy cases as possible, even if it means a completely false burial of hundreds of Americans.

  I KNOW THAT THIS STATEMENT WAS TRUE BECAUSE I SAW THE COMMUNIST RELEASE FILM ABOUT "THE BIG BLUE ANGEL" ON THE 6:00pm NEWS IN THE 1970's Harley Hall had been

  INTERROGATED BY THE SOVIETS  AND TAKEN TO MOSCOW BECAUSE OF A HIGHLY CLASSIFIED SERVICE RECORD. THE FILM LOOKED LIKE IT HAD BEEN TAKEN ABOUT 2:00am -AFTER BEING PARADED AROUND HANOI WITH A SIGN HUNG AROUND  HIS NECK THAT READ "I'AM A BIG BLUE ANGEL." HE AND TWO OTHER DOWNED PILOTS WERE WITH HIM FACES WERE BEATEN BEYOND RECOGNITION, HANDS TIED BEHIND THEIR BACKS WITH ARMED GUARDS WITH AK-47's WITH BAYONETS AT THEIR BACKS.  THE CITIZENS OF HANOI WERE ALLOWED TO COME UP AND SPIT IN THE FACES OF THE PRISONERS AND SHAKE THEIR FISTS AND SHOUT OBSCENITIES IN VIETNAMESE WHILE OTHERS WERE DRUNK AND THREW POP BOTTLES, WINE AND BEER BOTTLES AT THE PRISONERS.  WHILE YET IN THE BACKGROUND ANOTHER PRISONER WAS BEING DRAGGED TO DEATH BY A SPEEDING "VIET CONG" JEEP ALL IN FRONT OF THE HANOI HILTON WHERE THE OTHER TWO WITH HARLEY WHO WAS GREETED BY TO RUSSIAN KGB AGENTS AND TOOK HARLEY OUT OF VIETNAM.

       I HAD THE SISTER FILM TO THE ONE I JUST DESCRIBED ON MY OLD SITE, BUT WAS PULLED OFF BY HANOI FOR SECURITY REASONS. LOOKED SOMETHING LIKE THIS...
